
Dr. McGuire received his Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry) from the University of Ottawa and his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Toronto. His surgical training was then initiated with a one year surgical internship completed at the Toronto General Hospital. Dr. McGuire then subsequently chose the University of Toronto for his OMFS/Anaesthesia residency training. He simultaneously obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) thesis degree (Lingual Nerve Neurophysiology) during his OMFS residency training. Dr. McGuire was then accepted into and completed an intensive one year, fully accredited Fellowship in Facial Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery in the United States. Following his training he remained in the United States for an additional 18 months as a full-time academic professor at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center - Memphis, where he taught OMFS residents full scope maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on facial cosmetic surgery, complex multi-system trauma surgery and dental implant reconstruction.
Dr. McGuire is the current president of the Ontario Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is board certified in both the United States (Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons) and Canada (Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada). He is also an active examiner in OMFS for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He maintains active dental and specialty licensure in Ontario and in a number of states, and is a member of the numerous societies including the American Dental Society of Anaesthesiology and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. McGuire enjoys both the clinical and academic aspects of surgery and as such has published extensively in various peer-reviewed professional journals and textbooks. He also enjoys teaching and has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on topics ranging from Dental Implants and adjunctive reconstructive techniques to Facial Cosmetic and Trauma surgery.
Dr. McGuire feels fortunate to have had extensive training at varied locations across North America. He offers surgical expertise in all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, including Wisdom Tooth Removal, Outpatient Anaesthesia, Dental Implants, Bone/Soft Tissue Grafting, Management of Pathology, Orthognathic (Jaw) Surgery, Cleft Palate/Craniofacial, TMJ, Facial Trauma, Facial Reconstructive and Full Facial Cosmetic Surgery.
